A Bit of Recent History on the Leo Alumni Association Annual Raffle:

Some Leo High School Alumni traditions carry on each year without anyone noticing. Again last year, for the 2019 raffle, winners followed suit “ever so quietly” and shared their good fortune with those who could put the money to better use – the Leo students. Twin brothers Jim and Dennis Hallberg, both 1969 graduates, were of one mind in agreeing to share the winnings with each other if one should win. Indeed, one had the winning ticket and again they were of one mind: “Let’s share it with the school and donate it in the names of others as tribute.”And so, the winning ticket was “re-gifted” in the names of Jack Hallberg, 1959, Bob Hallberg, 1962, and Tom Hallberg, 1966, as well as memorializing two 1969 graduates – Jerry Blidy and Bob Shankman, who were close friends of twins.

Paraphrasing the twin brothers, they felt “it would be a great way to honor all five Hallbergs, all of whom were huge proponents of the great Catholic education that Leo provided, and sincerely hopeful the extra funds would continue the fine tradition of graduating men that go into the world to do good deeds in action not words to mirror the education they all received at Leo.

In advance of the upcoming Banquet an Raffle, the Alumni Association wishes to extend it’s gratitude to all of it’s alumni (which in 2019, also included raffle 2nd place winner winner James Furlong and others) who have given so generously in support of Alumni Association vents. We thank all of you for the continued support which allows this organization to continue to support out great school.
